Be Brilliant

We are excited to continue our emotional and social support to residents of BS13, but in a different format to the 1:1 counselling work that has previously been offered. Our programmes are evolving rapidly and we know that there is a need to support residents who are our volunteers and vocational trainees. Taking on new roles and challenges is exciting but can also be daunting. Our Be Brilliant programme supports our community to grow their confidence and skills.

Positive Minds will be ending in May 2021

We want to thank Helen Gunson our Positive Minds programme manager for her work and vision in running this service over the years.  Based on 12 years experience of working within the BS13 community, Helen created a trauma- informed model of support that enabled the service to meet the needs of clients.  Positive Minds recognised that mental health issues often sit alongside social and family problems, so Helen balanced therapeutic work with practical support and activity to ensure that people’s day-to-day needs were being met.

Making BS13 Brilliant!

It’s never been more important for adults in BS13 to increase their options through vocational training and further education.

We support Heart of BS13 volunteers and trainees with life-skills coaching, work experience and mentoring as well as identifying gaps in experience and skills. Working intensively with up to 12 volunteers and trainees a year and walking alongside each participant to role model, mentor and guide, our Be Brilliant approach supports and encourages new skills, behaviours and thinking to ensure that barriers and obstacles to opportunities can be overcome.

Get your Brilliant on! We’re coming out of lockdown!!

Lockdown has been tough for most of us in different ways and being at home certainly reduced the amount of exercise we’ve done on a daily basis.

Not moving has a massive negative impact on our health and wellbeing, so we have created a ‘Get Active, Stay Active’ guide to remind ourselves of the many ways of being active and how we can help ourselves feel good!

There are ideas and activities for each day of the week  – complete with how-to videos and healthy cookery suggestions – why not give it a go today?
