(and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home)
This spring, Heart of BS13 planned to launch our Kitchen Garden Social Enterprise… and then Covid-19 happened. The Kitchen Garden Enterprise provides paid and accredited vocational training and accredited volunteer oportunities for BS13 residents; supporting people from the community to learn new skills and build confidence. This is our first social enterprise at Heart of BS13, launched because we know that there is strong support across the city for produce with local provenance from businesses founded on ethical production principles. Our Kitchen Garden Enterprise feeds seasonally grown produce into our community kitchens which helps to support our Covid-19 food response and our beautiful cut flowers adhere to low-carbon and high environmental production standards. And this is where you come in!
Due to the amazing spring weather and the hard work of our Kitchen Garden Enterprise team we have an abundance of flowers. Currently we are selling to selected post-codes across Bristol, but individual deliveries are time consuming and we wanted to think of a way to harness the interest and good-will so many people have shown in supporting our work. Lockdown has got us thinking hyper-local. Right across the city we’ve been getting to know our neighbours and sharing time and resources where we can. Volunteering to run a Heart of BS13 Front Door Flower Market means you’re supporting social change and connecting your friends and neighbours to what we do.
What you will need..
- A front door
- The desire to support an amazing social enterprise that is really making a difference for the BS13 community in Bristol
- Time to WhatsApp or tell your neighbours and friends about what we do at Heart of BS13 and how they can buy from you when you host a front door flower market
- A free Saturday morning (we suggest a maximum of three hours) to host a Heart of BS13 Front Door Flower Market
We are looking for volunteers who live right across the city and we’d love to hear from you. For more information please email Georgina.Perry@heartofbs13.org.uk or call 07464688703
