Hartcliffe City Farm Community Engagement begins

Posted on 5th May 2021

Windmill Hill City Farm and Heart of BS13 have joined forces and are busy planning and fundraising to re-open Hartcliffe City Farm to the public in 2022. Our job is to steer the Farm in an exciting direction for the benefit of the whole community and we need your vision and aspirations to help us achieve this.

We have a chance to build a 21st Century City Farm, one that creates opportunities for the whole BS13 community. Everything we do to regenerate the Farm will centre around our commitment to increasing green job opportunities and reducing our impact on the environment. We want to honour this space for future generations and put opportunities for young people at the front and centre of its design and development.

Over the next 3 months, we will be reaching out to as many people as we can, starting with children and young people in a series of school engagement activities. We want everyone we talk with to consider the ideas and innovations that we’re thinking could work at the Farm and share with us their thoughts about what they’d like to see there. It will be an exciting process through which we will ask people to extend their vision and imagination about what could be possible in the space.

We want to understand what the Farm means for people who live locally

What has felt welcoming and excluding?

What sort of potential do you see for the space?

What are your thoughts on how to design a visitor attraction that is fun and free whilst generating enough revenue to train and employ local people in skilled jobs?

We plan to talk to thousands of people across the community to build a real vision for the future of the Farm. In the first instance, we’ll be engaging with children and young people as well as the families and households they live in, but we want to make sure that we go wide with this conversation. Covid is still with us so our plans are to meet up outdoors in small groups, probably street by street or in places where we know there will be plenty of footfall and people to talk with.

If you, your neighbours or friends have got ideas about the Farm you’d like to share then email or call Kirsty: Kirsty.hammond@heartofbs13.org.uk 07591636490
