Hello! If you are reading this then you are at least contemplating getting active, have started getting active or are lost and have ended up at this blog ………………………. Welcome, welcome, welcome. So you have been doing great getting active but your motivation is slipping, what do you do? First ask yourself why? Are you bored with what you are doing, is it too easy now, do you want to do something more social or are other aspects of your life creeping into ‘your’ time?
Solutions that might help you:
- Protect your time – remind yourself of the benefits you get from being active and be clear about your own needs.
- Bored? – try something new, jogging, mountain biking, BMX, netball, hockey, roller derby (yes in Hartcliffe …really!!! http://www.bristolrollerderby.com/ and they have drop-in sessions), dancing, country dancing, salsa, ballroom, Zumba, walking football; once you start looking you will be amazed at the opportunities locally. Obviously whilst we are still impacted by social distancing because of Covid 19, there will be less options, but start getting yourself fit for when the clubs and activities open again, so you can make the most of them.
- Too easy? – so you can cycle to Bedminster now easily, so set yourself a new challenge. Look at other local routes and get exploring. https://betterbybike.info/maps-and-rides/regional-cycle-maps. Bored with Salsa, try the Tango? You get the idea.
- Want something more social? – join a team sport or a gym or a regular class. Encourage your family of friends to join in doing something or join a group: This Mum Runs http://www.thismumruns.co.uk/, Parkrun https://www.parkrun.org.uk/, find local guided cycle rides https://www.letsride.co.uk/guided-rides, ask other people about what they do and find out what is going on locally.
You are an amazing human being, help yourself to stay healthy by getting active and staying active.
